has quietly grown into one of the more beloved comedy driven entries out of Weekly Shonen Jump in recent years, and fans have been waiting a long time to hear anything solid about its next chapter on screen. That wait officially ended when a new trailer confirmed that Mashle: Magic and Muscles season three will premiere in January 2027, with the announcement coming through an Aniplex industry panel held at Anime Expo in the summer of 2026.
For anyone unfamiliar with the series, Mashle follows a young man named Mash Burnedead who lives peacefully with his father deep in a forest, tucked away from a world where nearly everyone relies on magic for everyday life. Mash himself was born completely unable to use magic, a serious problem in a society that judges people almost entirely by their magical talent, so instead of casting spells he has spent his entire life building an absurdly powerful physique through nonstop physical training. When his peaceful life is eventually threatened, Mash discovers that his monstrous strength is more than capable of smashing through spells that would otherwise be impossible to survive.
The series takes that premise and runs with it in a mostly comedic direction, leaning heavily into parody references aimed at other famous magic school stories while still delivering genuinely exciting action sequences. In order to stay hidden and safe within a magic obsessed society, Mash eventually enrolls in a magic academy and works toward becoming a Divine Visionary, an elite title reserved for the school's most exceptional students. Watching him bulldoze his way through wizard duels using nothing but raw muscle, all while barely bothering to hide how absurd his methods are, has become one of the series' most reliable sources of comedy.
Mashle originally began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump back in January 2020, running until its conclusion in July 2023. The completed manga was collected into eighteen tankobon volumes, alongside an accompanying fanbook, both released together in October 2023, with Viz Media handling the English print release and Shueisha's own Manga Plus platform simulpublishing new chapters as they came out. By the time the manga wrapped up, it had already built a dedicated following thanks to its unique blend of overpowered comedy and genuine emotional stakes buried underneath the jokes.
The anime adaptation itself is produced by A-1 Pictures, with its first season premiering in Japan back in April 2023 and running for a full twelve episodes.
